If this is your first time to Destin and you’re excited to get out on the water on a jet ski, it might be a little confusing trying to find the best jet ski rentals outlet. You of course want it to be safe, in compliance with regulations, hopefully not too expensive, and not to mention fun!
Jet Ski rental locations abound in Destin, Florida, so we’ve rounded up ten of the best local rental outlet to help you narrow down your search!
Xtreme H2o prides itself on being one of the last old-fashioned, small-town, and locally staffed marinas left in Florida. Located near the Destin Bridge and Dewey Destin’s Seafood Restaurant, Xtreme H2o is easy to find.
This watersports emporium offers dolphin tours, pontoon boat rentals, parasailing, and more, but what we’re really excited about is Xtreme H2o’s jet ski rentals in Destin Florida, and potentially on 30a too.
Xtreme H2o takes a carefree, fun approach to rent jet skis in Destin while still maintaining safety at all times. Xtreme H2o’s rental jet ski fleet of Yamaha 4-stroke jet skis with electric breaks and boarding ladders make them easier to mount and great to ride. These Destin rental jet skis have a weight limit of 400 pounds, but occupancy is strictly limited to three people, even if you haven’t hit the weight limit.
Unlike a lot of rental locations out there, Xtreme H2o doesn’t monitor or limit your speed. Couple that with the tiny no-wake zone in their private Destin marina, you’ll get out onto the open water much faster to make the most of your jet ski rental time. Once you’re out on the open water, you can zip around at over 50 mph and really feel like you’re flying!
To keep safety and compliance with local laws at the forefront, Xtreme H2o supplies all the safety gear you’ll need to enjoy while out on the water. To rent and drive one of Xtreme H2o’s jet skis, you have to be 16 years old or older. To comply with local laws, this location also requires a Florida Boater’s Permit from those who were born after 1987.
If you don’t have one, don’t worry — Xtreme H2o is legally able to administer the test and the resulting permit. If you are looking to rent your jet ski in Destin from Xtreme H2o, make sure to allow for an extra couple of hours the first time you visit to get the test out of the way.
Destin Water Fun
In addition to pontoon boat rentals and fishing boat charters, Destin Water Fun also offers jet ski rentals. Located at 214 Harbor Boulevard, Destin Water Fun is right in the thick of things and easy to access.
Like Xtreme H2o, Destin Water Fun has a fleet of Yamaha 3-seaters jet sky rentals with no speed limit or monitoring so you can zip around at speeds up to 57 mph! All of their jet skis hold up to 400 pounds, and they are well taken care of by the staff.
Destin Water Sports qualifications are a little more strict, but that only furthers the safety and fun of your Destin jet ski rental adventure!
Renters must be 18 years old or older, but 16 and 17-year-olds can drive the jet skis so long as a parent or a guardian is present and signs the contract. Before getting out on the water, you must watch a short safety video, provide a credit card and photo ID, and your Florida Boater’s Permit if you were born after 1987.
No worries if you don’t have it, you can always take the test on-site.
These Jet Ski Rentals in Destin start at $80, and fuel is included. Military and law enforcement personnel as well as teachers receive a 10% discount.
After years spent flying F-4’s in the Air Force and then flying jets for Delta Airlines, Bruce Belser wanted to start a fun, people-oriented business — and thus Dockside Watersports was born!

Unlike some of the others on our list of jet ski rentals in Destin, Dockside Watersports only takes hourly rentals on a first-come-first-serve basis, which is actually a great idea. If you want a quick ride you can drop in, but if you want to take your time, you can reserve a time slot for four hours or more.
Dockside Watersports also, of course, requires a Florida Boater’s Permit, but it’s unclear if they are licensed to administer the test themselves. Make sure to contact their customer service line to double-check.
Dockside Watersports offers a variety of rates depending on how long you plan to rent the jet ski, and if you’d like a tour with it.
Mid-Bay Watersports takes pride in its free parking, quiet location, and no no-wake zones — all things that can sometimes hamper your jet ski rental fun in busy areas of Destin.
Equipped with the 2019 model Yamaha Waverunners, three passengers can enjoy jet ski rentals and cruising along Destin’s clear blue-green water at speeds reaching up to 47 mph. That’s a little slower than some other locations on this list, so there’s a possibility speed might be limited on these jet skis, but 47 mph is still pretty speedy!
Because of the lower speed limit, this Destin location could be a great place for beginners, kids, and those who might get a little nervous on the water when renting jet skis.
Rates are not currently listed on the website, so it’s best to call Mid-Bay Watersports to find out the particulars.
